I don’t normally read much erotica. Not because I don’t enjoy it, but because so much of it is boring, cliched and repetitive, and it’s difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff. However, I recently read this author’s ‘Thrill Seeker’ (read the review here) and really enjoyed it. So I thought I’d try some more of her work.
This is a collection of short stories which have been published in various places previously, and are an interesting group. Those who know her work will be aware that it centres on female submission fantasies, and these stories are no exception.
Having said that, there is a lot of variety here; bondage, fetishes, food, ghosts; all get an airing. Some are fairly straightforward, but some are almost surreal with elements of fantasy and science fiction. All are intelligent and well written, with most having real depth to them in addition to the sex.
As you would expect with any book of short stories, I enjoyed some more than others, as everyone’s tastes are different. But if you are a fan of erotica, I would recommend this collection. It’s entertaining, sometimes funny, and, yes, erotic. There is something here for everyone (well, almost everyone!).
